| Involution of the Uterus |
The uterus is about the size of a large grapefruit immediately after delivery, and within a few hours, should rise to the level of the umbilicus and remain there for the first 24 hours. After this, it will descend ~1 cm/day. By day 10, it should have descended into the pelvic cavity and no longer be palpable in the abdominal cavity.
