The dissociative disorders - A group of psychological conditions in which a particular mental function becomes cut off from the rest of the mind.
Examples of dissociative disorders include hysterical amnesia (see hysteria), fugue, multiple personality disorder, and depersonalization. (See also conversion disorder.)
